How I lost 15lbs in 2 weeks, The start of my weight loss ​journey.

My small frame of 4 feet 11 inches carried 206 pounds. Months before, I had started to really do my research, looking at other’s stories and finding scientific studies that had proven to work. One of my most favorite celebrities had released the book “Presto, How I Made 100 Pounds Disappear and Other Magical Tales.” By Penn Jillette. This book had lead me to another book by Dr. John McDougall “The Starch Solution” This had opened my eyes and my world to a whole new way of life and on April 1, 2018, I had adopted the way of eating Penn had spoken significantly about in his book and the life Dr. John McDougall has researched and studied for over 60 years.

For the first two weeks of my weight loss journey, I was going to do a monotrophic diet or a mono diet. A diet consisting of eating only one type of food. The mono diet is technically a detox, your body resets and it’s like magic happens. You don’t deprive yourself at all. There are no specific times to eat, you eat as much as you want when you want no matter the time. The only thing, you have to stick to the food you choose. For me that was potaotes.

I chose potatoes because you’re not bound to only one kind. You can enjoy all types of potatoes Yukon gold, russets, sweet potatoes, any kind of potato. Which meant I wasn’t going to be depleted of any nutrients. I was so determined to become healthy. To have a better relationship with food, that I had no issues following the mono diet. And I truly feel that this was the best thing I could have done for myself.

Two weeks later I weighed in 15 pounds lighter, was it water weight, some would probably argue it was. but I feel it wasn’t, because not only did I keep that 15 pounds off but I’ve gone to lose nearly 50 pounds in 10 months. Which I will get to in another blog.
